How to locate a lost iPhone using the Apple Watch

We are often exposed to the problem of forgetting our devices that we always carry with us anywhere, the most prominent of which is of course the phone, but if it is difficult for you to find an iPhone, and you think that it is close to you or someone who can hear it, you can use the Apple Watch that you wear on your wrist to reach it quickly.

The Apple Watch includes a hidden feature that allows you to easily locate the paired iPhone, where you can play a sound to locate it, instead of heading to the computer and using the Find My app.

First, how to locate a lost iPhone using the Apple Watch:

  • Swipe up on the Apple Watch home screen to open Control Center.
  • Look for the (ping iPhone) button, which is an iPhone icon with curved lines on either side.
  • Click the (ping iPhone) button, and the iPhone will make a beep.
  • But if you press and hold the (ping iPhone) button instead of tapping it, the iPhone will beep and the LED will also blink, that way if the speaker is a bit muffled, you can also rely on the phone's LED lighting to help locate it.

Second; Locate iPhone using Siri:

If you don't have an Apple Watch, you can rely on Siri to locate your lost iPhone. All you have to do is launch Siri on one of your connected Apple devices, and ask her to find the device you're looking for.

You can ask Siri on a Mac computer to ping an iPhone, or on an iPad, you can ask her to ping a wireless speaker.

All you have to do after turning on Siri on any of your devices is to say one of the following commands:
  • Hey Siri, Find My iPhone.
  • Hey Siri, where is my iPhone.
  • Hey Siri, Play a sound on my iPhone.
It should be noted that the methods for locating the iPhone that we mentioned earlier are suitable if you lose your phone in places close to you, such as: home or workplaces, but they are not valid if you lose your phone in places far from you, or it was stolen from you, but in this case you can use an application Find My on any device you have to locate your phone and take the necessary actions.

Third; How to activate the distancing alerts feature for a device:

The Find My app can alert you when you leave your devices in an unfamiliar place, so just turn on the move alerts feature for a device — be it an iPhone, Apple Watch, or iPad — so you don't accidentally leave it behind. You can also set trusted locations, which are locations where you can leave your device without getting an alert.

To activate this feature, you can follow these steps:

  • Go to the Find My app on the iPhone.
  • Click on the Devices option, then click on the name of the device for which you want to set an alert.
  • Under the notifications, activate the Notify When Left Behind option, then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

If you want to add a trusted location, you can choose a suggested location, or click on a new location, select a location on the map, and then click Done.
