How to use an Android phone as a wireless speaker for your computer - AudioRelay

Most computers come with built-in speakers and audio amplifiers. However, sometimes the built-in speaker may malfunction, and you may not have the opportunity to diagnose and fix the issue. In such cases, you can utilize your Android smartphone and use it as an external speaker for your computer. Here's how you can turn your Android phone into a wireless speaker for your computer using a third-party app.

How to use an Android phone as a wireless speaker for your computer:

Smartphone apps running on the Android operating system and computers running on Windows, macOS, or Linux usually do not have built-in apps that allow you to use an Android phone as a speaker. Therefore, several apps have been developed to fulfill this purpose, including the AudioRelay app.

AudioRelay is an audio streaming app that enables you to turn your Android smartphone into a wireless or wired speaker for your Windows, macOS, or Linux computer.

To achieve this, you first need to install the AudioRelay application on your Android smartphone from here, as well as on your Windows, macOS, or Linux computer. The application is available for free and offers in-app subscription options.

To start using this application on a Windows computer, please follow the steps below:

1. Make sure that your Android phone and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Download the AudioRelay application on your Windows computer.

3. Ensure that you have selected all the options in the "Select Additional Tasks" section.

8. Play any sound on the computer to listen to it through the speaker of your phone, and you can adjust the volume level from the AudioRelay application on the computer. To stop audio streaming, click the "Stop" button within the phone application.

How to use an Android phone as a wired speaker:

If you're unable to connect to your Wi-Fi network, you can use the AudioRelay app in wired connection mode by following these steps:
1. Make sure you have the AudioRelay app installed on your mobile phone and computer.
2. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
3. In the AudioRelay app on your phone, scroll down to the "USB tethering" section.
4. Tap on "Settings" to access the mobile hotspot and tethering settings.
