WhatsApp has also developed ways to communicate collectively through the Communities feature, which facilitates user communication with multiple groups and people who can number up to 5,000 people at once.

In addition, WhatsApp has borrowed a video calling app feature, such as Google Meet and Zoom, where you can now easily create video or voice call links in WhatsApp and share them with others, so anyone using WhatsApp can join your call when you open the link.

You can send call links to any person or group on WhatsApp, or copy and share links with people outside of WhatsApp.

Here's how to create and share video or voice call links in WhatsApp:

»Go to your phone's WhatsApp app.
»Tap the Calls tab.
»Click on the Create call link option.
»Click on the (Call Type) option to select the type of call, video or audio.
»At the end of this screen, you will find 3 options for sharing the link, namely: the first: (Send a link via WhatsApp) Share link via Whatsapp to share it in WhatsApp, the second: (Copy link) allows you to copy and share it through any application or service such as email, and the third: (Share link) Share link to share it through another application installed in your phone, choose the option that suits you best to share the call link.

After sharing the link, you can join the WhatsApp call yourself by opening the link, and anyone you shared the link with can join the call by opening the link and then clicking on the Join option.
In addition, during a call, you can invite anyone to join by tapping the icon in the top-left corner, then selecting that person from your contacts.

Top points to pay attention to when sharing call links on WhatsApp:

  1. WhatsApp lets you video call up to 32 people simultaneously, which is on par with group chat in Apple's iMessage app.
  2. Anyone with a call link can join your call, so be sure to share call links only with people you trust.
  3. Calls made via call links you created are completely encrypted.
  4. Blocked users can't access your call link.
  5. Unused links expire within 30 days.
  6. WhatsApp can also cancel links for privacy and security reasons, if reported.

How to use call waiting:

If someone tries to call you via WhatsApp while there's an ongoing voice or video call via WhatsApp, you'll receive a notification depending on the type of call, and you can choose whether to answer or reject the call, which won't interrupt the ongoing call.

If someone calls you via WhatsApp, you can choose one of the following options:

  1. (Termination and acceptance) End & Accept: End the current call, and accept the incoming call.
  2. (Rejected) Decline: Rejects the incoming call, and continues the ongoing call.

If someone calls someone by means other than WhatsApp:

If someone tries to call you from outside WhatsApp – i.e. via phone number – during a WhatsApp voice or video call, you can choose one of the following options:
  1. (Reply) Answer: To end the current call, and accept the incoming call.
  2. (Rejected) Decline: Rejects the incoming call, and continues the ongoing call.
  3. (Call check) Screen call: Google Assistant scans incoming calls to you, asks who is calling, and the reason for the call.
